Wow... it seems that same-sex marriages are moving forward surprisingly quickly since the Supreme Court made their ruling in June! Minnesota, my home state, was number 13 to legalize gay marriage and my current state... New Mexico... is issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples county by county with six counties so far, including San Miguel County, which is where Birds of a Feather Community is located! Let's keep the momentum going in New Mexico and everywhere!

Our community just had our first big summer party this past week, celebrating four of our resident's May & June birthdays (including mine, Debbie's 60th, Helen and Candice) and I believe that fun was had by all of our residents and their guests. I even had the pleasure of two of my dear Minnesota friends flying in for the party! Allen (our most recent lot purchaser and future resident) also flew in from Texas to join the celebration and visit with his future neighbors, as well as re-visit his beautiful home site. We're all looking forward to several new homes being designed and built in the community in the very near future.

I've been working on a newsletter today and thought it would be a good idea to update my blog today, too.

Everybody here at Birds is ready for summer and all that it means... gardens... vegetable and flower, outdoor parties, lots of new birds at our feeders and warmer weather! We have so many different types of hummingbirds that visit that I have planted an entire perennial garden just for them... it is actually easier than filling the nectar feeders every day. Being at a little higher elevation means highs of around 90 and perfect sleeping weather at night of about 50 degrees! And very few bugs!

Rain predicted for tomorrow, day light longer with the time change this weekend. I'm already imagining the wild flowers and my perennial garden in bloom! I'm also looking forward to many visitors this year. Already have showings scheduled into June. So exciting to think about our community growing with new lot owners and new homes being built after the "recession lull" we experienced.
