The holidays are fast approaching and the weather is turning colder.  I can't believe that summer is behind us... where did it go? Looks like it has been months since I last updated this blog.  As they say, time flies when you are having fun!

We have been very busy working with our architect to design a couple of wonderful floor-plans for smaller homes in phase II of our LGBT community. We have also spent several months going through the approval process with various state and county agencies for additional lots in our community.

Our Aspen trees are all leafed out and our native grasses and wildflowers are appearing.  It is great to see everything so green again.  We have spent the last six winters thinning our forests mainly to create defensible space around our homes in case of fire, but there are also many more benefits for thinning.  We take most dead, dying and suppressed trees, as well as more juniper than pinon trees as the juniper take much more water from our aquifer system.  So, we are saving our ground water supply.  Thinning also gives all of the remaining trees more air, minerals and water and therefore, makes much healthier trees.  We have many varieties of native grasses and wildflowers, as well as more birds and wildlife!  Recently, we have seen Swainson's and Coopers hawks, as well as many Western Bluebirds and several varities of hummingbirds.  We have more deer and even a flock of wild turkeys.  We are also opening up amazing views of the surrounding Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

It sure seems like we have begun to turn the corner as far as the economy and real estate markets are concerned... at least I sure hope so. My inquiries about the community have certainly picked up in the last two to three months and we have many property showings scheduled well into the spring and summer.

The markets took a toll on our many of our lot owners who have had their hopes and dreams dashed of living at Birds of a Feather.  There are several lots in Phase I available for re-sale... both 1/4 to 1/2 acre lots for our 1620 sq. ft. casita floor plans and approximately one acre lots for single family homes which can be custom designed or you may choose from one of our approved builder's floor plans.
