Happy Solstice & Summer!
Our community just had our first big summer party this past week, celebrating four of our resident's May & June birthdays (including mine, Debbie's 60th, Helen and Candice) and I believe that fun was had by all of our residents and their guests. I even had the pleasure of two of my dear Minnesota friends flying in for the party! Allen (our most recent lot purchaser and future resident) also flew in from Texas to join the celebration and visit with his future neighbors, as well as re-visit his beautiful home site. We're all looking forward to several new homes being designed and built in the community in the very near future.
Now... back to our party. We set up several small canopy's for shade next to all of our game areas... horseshoes, badminton and ping-pong, as well as a huge “mess tent” for our birthday dinner. Our local, gay-owned (yes.. gay owned and located in Pecos) restaurant, Frankie's Casanova Grill, catered our event and provided some great food... chicken, hamburgers, calabacitas, salad and of course, a fabulous birthday cake!
Entertainment was provided by our friend and sometimes, pet/house sitter, Sarah. Sarah sang some great old songs for us while we relaxed after dinner.
This was our first combined birthday party and there is talk of making it an annual event as everyone seemed to really enjoy the party. Hopefully, some of our scheduled visitors for tours this summer will also become a part of our birds “flock” and join us in celebrating again next year.
We currently have community visits/tours scheduled with guys and gals from Texas, New York, California and Minnesota. There are so many wonderful summer events held in Santa Fe to schedule your visit around (see May post below). We would love to give you a tour and introduce you to some of our residents.
Although interest rates are still at historic lows, they are beginning to creep upward, as are housing prices in many areas of the country. This is a perfect time to purchase your future home site in our community before rates and prices go up any more. We have
some fabulous award-winning builders ready to help you design and build your custom home or we have several architect-designed floor plans that you may choose from ranging in size from 960 to 1625 sq. ft. Building your home doesn't have to be a stressful event... even if you build from afar. Our residents have had great building experiences.
Our weather has been beautiful so far this year. Sunny blue skies with day temperatures mostly in the 70's and 80's and night temperatures dropping to the 50's... perfect sleeping weather! Of course, we can always use more rain and the afternoon rains should begin in the very near future. The locals call it “monsoon” season, which to me, is very misleading. The monsoons are rain showers that usually begin in the late afternoon and last for a few hours at most.
