Wild in Santa Fe

Join hundreds of women from around the world this Memorial Day Weekend as they descend upon the land of expansive blue skies and breathtaking vistas for the first annual Santa Fe Women's Weekend. A Wild Women Productions event, this May 25-28 weekend promises a mix of indoor and outdoor parties, comedy, music, art and more. "The goal," say organizers, "is to create a venue that shares the Santa Fe experience, going beyond the parties with off the beaten path experiences and adventures."

Wild Women Productions is the creation of three very unique women who ended up in Santa Fe from across the United States. Linda Krauss hails from New York, Donalee Goodbrod from Pennsylvania, and Angela Martin from Texas Linda and Angela, in cooperation with Donalee, owner of the exclusive gay venue, the Paramount, started the Lava Lips Lounge almost two years ago. It soon evolved into a full fledge dance party attracting up to 500 women from Santa Fe and all over New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, and as far away as Seattle. The women explain that it was with that enthusiasm from the women's community that they decided to take the party a step further, and thus the Santa Fe Women's weekend was born.

A packed line-up of parties awaits including the infamous Lava Lips Lounge Dance party at the Paramount Club featuring the Hot Lava Dancers and the erotic acrobatics of lesbian trapeze artists Amy & Alessandra of "Wise Fool;" Red Ball with legendary DJ Tracy Young of South Beach; and Salsa and Dance Party with hot Latin DJ Theresa Flores from Bocados in Houston. And prepare to get wet at the two pool parties on Saturday and Sunday at the Radison Hotel for swimming, sunning, music, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails at the poolside bar.

Organizers note that very creative and gifted people often end up in Santa Fe, and that they found a pool of talent--from DJs to performers--who were eager to participate in the event. Singer, songwriter, and co-founder of Olivia Records, Cris Williamson is the music headliner for the event with a concert Sunday night, while an A list of lesbian comedians--Karen Williams and Mimi Gonzalez--will perform on Saturday night.

There will be two lesbian literary salons for coffee, deserts and brandy. On Saturday meet best selling author Claire McNab who has penned over 50 books including "Under the Southern Cross", "The Loving Lesbian", and all the Detective Inspector Carol Ashton and Denise Cheever mysteries. Featured on Sunday is Lesbian Nation's own columnist Bett Williams of "Surfin' Bett," the author of critically acclaimed Girl Walking Backwards.

Other options available during this weekend include New Mexico Bike Adventures' special women's group bike tour; horse back riding at the beautiful Bishop's Lodge Stables; Camel Rock Casino; The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum; Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Spa; white water rafting on the Rio Grande River and more.

We want women to leave their hectic lifestyles behind," say the Wild Women, "forget about business, let their hair down and experience the passion Santa Fe evokes."

The Radison Hotel is the host hotel, and all-inclusive packages start at $499, per person double occupancy for a three night stay (air fare not included). If you choose other accommodations, VIP Passes are available for $175 and gain entry to all the events except the Sunday night headliner concert (those tickets will be available for purchase at the event). Tickets to individual events will also be sold at the door.
