Meeting the new Director of Planning and Zoning

Just returned from Santa Fe. and a great meeting with Marisol Miranda-Greene, the new Director of the Planning and Zoning Division of San Miguel County and Jesus Lopez, San Miguel County Attorney.  I think that we are finally "back on track" and everyone is in agreement with how to proceed with our application for subdivision. We should receive preliminary approval by June 2001. I'm somewhat reluctant to make projections about time but I sincerely believe that we have finally addressed every issue previously raised by Planning and Zoning during the past year!

I also had the pleasure of meeting with Peter Lundberg while I was in Santa Fe. Peter has been working for the past 5 years on creating a community called Our Town in the San Francisco Bay Area. Peter was visiting friends in Santa Fe and asked to visit with me and hike on Bird's property. Despite some rather winter-like weather, we had a great time hiking and sharing our experiences in creating community. It was wonderful to feel so supported and understood. Some friends and future residents of Bird's new community, along with their canine companions, also joined us for the hike. Everyone had a great time! I'll be adding pictures from our hike to the property photo section of the website in the next week or so.

And as we were leaving the property . . . discovered a gift left by some wonderful anonymous person! A beautiful original oil painting almost totally covered with snow was propped-up against the entrance gate!! All of our mouths dropped open in amazement at the unexpected and thoughtful gift. The painting features feathers and also tells a story which I would love to hear from the artist! View the painting and e-mail us with your comments and interpretations of the "story". Many thanks to whoever left us this wonderful gift! Your gift and your support are greatly appreciated!
